Distillers, bourbon distillers in particular are a patient bunch. Most aspire to wait four years so there bourbon doesn’t require an age statement and will check off the list of requirements to qualify as Bottled in Bond. Distillers and Co-Founders Shane Baker and Patrick Heist of Wilderness Trail Distillery in Danville, Kentucky, have always maintained they would not release their bourbon until it qualified as Bottled in Bond and, to their credit, they’ve stuck by that rule. That’s not to say they don’t offer a younger rum and vodka, that’s just to say that they’ve always said their bourbon will be Bottled in Bond. Well folks, that magical four year period is here and their four year old BIB bourbon is set to be released.
