Michter’s Fort Nelson Distillery is located at 801 West Main Street in the heart of downtown Louisville on Whiskey Row. Michter’s sits across the street from the Louisville Slugger Museum & Bat Factory and down the block from the Frazier History Museum, which has been designated the Kentucky Bourbon Trail® Welcome Center and serves as the official starting point of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail®. Join us for a guided tour and tasting to learn about our “Cost Be Damned” approach to producing the highest quality American whiskeys and enjoy a drink at the world-class Bar at Fort Nelson. Online reservations are strongly recommended, but walk-ins will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Discover Michter’s Fort Nelson Distillery in downtown Louisville. Located in the historic Fort Nelson building on Main Street, this distillery is home to a legendary historic distillation system. Here you will learn about all of the extra steps Michter’s takes throughout the whiskey production process to pursue our goal of producing the greatest American whiskey, from barreling at a lower entry proof, to toasting our barrels before charring and heat cycling our warehouses. Following the tour, you will taste five different Michter’s expressions before heading up to the bar, where your visit will conclude with a cocktail demonstration and a small cocktail sample.
The Bar at Fort Nelson is located on the second floor, The Bar at Fort Nelson features classic cocktails curated by cocktail historian and author David Wondrich as well as modern creations by the bar team.
The Bar features glassware from U.K. producer John Jenkins and an ice program with machines from top global equipment purveyors, including Clinebell, Hoshizaki and Scotsman.
The Bar serves as a resource for the local Kentuckiana bar community and host educational seminars from leading industry professionals through its Fort Nelson Fellows program. Learn more.
