About
Boone County Distilling Company has deep roots that date back to 1833 when Petersburg, Kentucky (just outside of Cincinnati) was home to the largest distilled spirits producer in America. Today, Boone County is home to a new craft spirits distillery that continues to break new ground by bringing distilling back for the first time in a century.

Tasting Room & Artisan Distillery

Reminiscent of the days when bourbon was celebrated as the life-blood of the region, Boone County Distilling is housed in 5,000 square feet set on 2.5 acres. It includes a 500-gallon copper pot still affectionately named “The Bear”, four fermenters and a small bottling line with a capacity of hundreds of barrels of small batch bourbon a year. Barrels are stored on site, in our warehouse behind the distillery. In every detail of our operation, we’ve respected our history while investing in our future. Our tag line, “Made by Ghosts,” harkens to the early pioneers who crafted spirits in Boone County more than 100 years ago.

Boone County Distilling Spirits

Small Batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey – Our small batch straight bourbon offers perfectly balanced colors of copper, chestnut and caramel. The aroma includes light notes of aged oak, vanilla, almond, and sugar cookie. Once you taste it you’ll find the flavor brings up an elegant roundness; with appropriate notes of sweet oak, caramel, vanilla, and almond biscuit. It all wraps up with a finish with a pinch of cinnamon that is smooth, consistent, and satisfying. Learn more. White Hall Bourbon CreamRich Alabaster Cream blended with Boone County’s Eighteen 33 Bourbon. Back in the late 1800s, when Boone County was booming, Lewis Loder, a bookkeeper by trade, ran the White Hall Tavern at Tanner and Front Streets. One of his favorite treats was serving shots of bourbon over rich ice cream, and as the sun set on the Ohio River his hard-working patrons enjoyed a sweet reward for their honest day’s work. We recall that moment with our Bourbon Cream blended with Eighteen 33 and rich, alabaster cream. Pour this 32 proof spirit over ice, ice cream, or in your coffee. Learn more. Rucker & Gaines American Dry Gin – Our gin includes botanicals of juniper, grapefruit, lemon peel, coriander, angelica root, lemongrass, and chamomile that provide a clear sparkle. Together they offer a balanced union of crisp juniper and fresh citrus. The flavors show through with bright citrus, warm spices, and juniper notes all blended together. The final finish is smooth and dry with zesty lemon notes. Learn more. Tanner’s Curse White WhiskeyIn 1785, the Bluegrass could be a wild and bloody place. The landscape was raw, the living thin, and conflict was inevitable. And when a God-fearing man named Tanner founded Petersburg smack atop a prehistoric graveyard of the Fort Ancient people, he had made a major mistake. A mistake he paid for with lives. These early Americans fought for their place in history and their influence runs as clear as the whiskey in this vessel. Like the alabaster moon, the embers of their souls live on, well beyond the battle. Tanner’s Curse Whiskey is a 120 proof unaged white whiskey. Learn more. Eighteen 33 Straight Bourbon Whiskey (Sold Out) – The first thing you notice is the rich amber color, glowing soft as warm caramel drizzled on an autumn apple. The way bourbon used to look when distillers paid attention to their craft. Next you’re met with a welcoming aroma, which our patrons have described as reminiscent of aged oak, vanilla, and caramel. Take your first sip and you’ll enjoy notes of sweet oak, vanilla, caramel and a hint of apricot. This is a rich, uncompromising flavor palette, no question. The finish is unique and complex, ranging from vanilla to a hint of cinnamon and even subtle notes of rye bread. Different people find different things to love. Isn’t that the way it should be? We like to think that we’ve crafted Eighteen 33 to offer something to every bourbon lover. Eighteen 33 Straight Bourbon Whiskey Is aged 10 years and barreled at 90.8 proof. Learn more.
