I had the pleasure of seeing Wild Turkey’s Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, his wife of 62 years Joretta and their son Master Distiller Eddie Russel last week. I got Jimmy’s and Eddie’s signatures on a bottle of Russell’s Reserve Small Batch 10 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. This Bourbon is hand picked by the two distillers from the middle section or “center cut” of the rick house in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The whiskey is aged for a minimum of 10 years in the deepest no. 4 char, or alligator charred barrels for richer color and deeper flavor. The amazing caramel color glistening through the clear bottle is simply beautiful.
Now I need to decide if I’ll pop it open this weekend and enjoy it or if I will save it as a collectors item with the only father and son Master Distiller team signatures.
What would you do?
