Smirnoff Ice Product Recall

Diageo Canada announced a voluntary recall of specific Smirnoff Ice products and lot codes in glass bottles in Canada because of a possibility that they may contain small fragments of glass. The company believes that significantly less than one percent of these bottles are impacted. Diageo has not received any reports from consumers relating to the impacted bottles.

The voluntary recall affects only 330ml glass bottles of Smirnoff Ice products in select 4-pack, 12-pack and individual bottle packages listed below. The recall was issues after its ongoing quality assurance process detected quality issues with some bottles that could cause small glass fragments to break off and fall inside. The affected bottles came from a third-party glass manufacturer that supplies bottles to the company for use in Canada.

After discovering the issue, the company immediately notified the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and began notifying and working with its broker and customers to arrange for all potentially impacted bottles to be removed from retail. The company is also working with the glass supplier to resolve their production issue.

Consumers who have purchased the particular Smirnoff Ice flavors listed below on or after July 24, 2015 should check to see if any of their purchases match the flavors and lot codes in the table below.  Lot codes are located on the shoulder of the bottle.  Consumers with matching lot codes should call 866-915-5949 or email smirnoffice@consumer-care.net for instructions about reimbursement for the product.
