Four Roses Distillery has announced the release of its latest Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon, featuring three of the distillery’s 10 unique Bourbon recipes. The 2016 Small Batch release includes,
- Four Roses Limited Edition Bourbon, 12-year-old OESO
- Four Roses Limited Edition Bourbon, 12-year-old OBSV
- Four Roses Limited Edition Bourbon, 16-year-old OESK
Master Distiller Brent Elliot says it’s the first time in more than seven years that the OESO recipe has appeared in a Limited Edition Small Batch.
“When I tasted the sample from that OESO barrel, I knew I wanted it to anchor this Limited Edition Bourbon,” Elliott said. “We were able to highlight its exceptional fruitiness and balance it out with more age and spice from the two other recipes.”
The company says the bourbon is bottled at barrel strength with a proof of 111.2 and offers bright notes of sweet cherry and crisp green apples, mingled with rich apricot and structured rye aromas. Tart citrus flavors greet the palate, then give way to hints of sweet molasses, peppery spices and decadent crème brulee. The finish is long and gentle, with delicate honey and light mint.
“Over the years, being a part of selecting the Limited Edition releases has always been one of my favorite tasks,” Elliott said. “It’s fun working to create something unique each and every time.”
Four Roses will distribute 9,258 hand-numbered bottles of the 2016 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon in the United States. The release will begin to hit retail outlets in mid-September, during National Bourbon Heritage Month.
