When you’re hanging out with 65,000 of your closest friends in 90 degree heat for three days straight a quick respite inside an air-conditioned tent for a few minutes can feel like an oasis. Throw in the local eats, fire side chats (about Bourbon) and of course Bourbon – The Water of Life and you’ve landed inside the Kentucky Bourbon Lodge, a weekend outpost for the Kentucky Bourbon Trail at Forecastle.

Forecastle Festival now in its 14th year is a three-day festival that takes place in Louisville, Kentucky on 85 scenic waterfront acres that celebrates music, art, environmental activism and life. The festival features four stages and 60 bands from all over the country including acts like The Avett Brothers, Ryan Adams, Alabama Shakes, Brandi Carlile, Local Natives and Gary Clark Jr. What started out as a neighborhood party in 2002 has grown into an annual phenomenon attracting people from all over the world.
What is Forecastle? A Forecastle is a superstructure at the bow of a ship where the crew is housed. Hard at work in the unruly sea, it’s a place workers gather after a long day to unwind. A place where the people come together, for one whale of a good time.
This is the fourth year for the Kentucky Distillers’ Association has partnered with Forecastle to create the outpost. The Bourbon Lodge features dozens of bourbon selections from Bulleit, Four Roses, Jim Beam, Larceny, Maker’s Mark, Michter’s, Old Forester, Wild Turkey and Woodford Reserve.
Here are a few photos from inside this year’s Kentucky Bourbon Lodge. Peace!
