The Bardstown Bourbon Company located in the Bourbon Capital of the World, Bardstown, Kentucky is a different kind of bourbon company. Since its founding in 2014 it’s been about transparency starting with the large glass structure at the distillery that houses a pair of mirror image 50′ tall stainless steel column stills. From day one, they’ve been about making their own spirits but they’ve also been transparent about making spirits for a select group of other brands, that’s part of the business model. That model has led them to making nearly 40 different mash bills for some of the finest whiskey and bourbon brands in the world.
They started distillation in 2016 led by Master Distiller Steve Nally. He’s got 40 years of bourbon making experience including the role of Master Distiller at Maker’s Mark Distillery and was voted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame by his peers in 2015. He’s supported by John Hargrove, Vice President of Manufacturing Operations and former Master Distiller at Sazerac and Barton 1792 Distillery.
The First Aged Spirit Off Bardstown Bourbon Company’s Own Stills
In the last few years Bardstown Bourbon Company has released a few collaborations or blends they’ve created using sourced spirits. This new release marks the first Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey made off their own stills.
Bardstown Bourbon Company’s Bardstown Bourbon Fusion Series #1 marks the first release made off their own stills. To be clear, it’s not totally made off their own stills but in the era of transparency, they spell out specifically what percent is their own and what percent is sourced. This collaboration is a blend of two Bardstown Bourbon Company’s estate-made bourbons, a two year and 3 month old high-wheat bourbon and a two year, one month high-rye bourbon, with an 11-year-old sourced Kentucky bourbon.

The company says the Fusion Series #1 blend is the result of a collaboration of the company’s expert distilling, beverage and culinary teams working together to develop an exceptionally smooth, yet complex pour.

The company says the process to produce Bardstown Bourbon Fusion Series #1 is as unique as the product itself. The team blind tasted more than 50 blends to arrive at a final product with an exceptional nose, a rich palate and a balanced, lasting finish. The synthesis between young and aged bourbon creates a one-of-a-kind blend. The lively fruit and spice of the two-year-old Kentucky bourbon counters the leather, roasted nuts and rich caramel of aged Kentucky bourbon.

Bardstown Bourbon Fusion Series #1 is bottled at 98.9° proof (49.45 ABV) with a suggested retail price of $59.99 for a 750ml bottle. It is now available in Kentucky and Indiana through Republic National Distributing Company and will be released in California and Florida through Southern Glazers Wine and Spirits in May, and Tennessee and Illinois this summer.
