Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky along with tour guide extraordinaire and Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Famer Freddie Johnson has expanded their soft drink offerings. The company launched Freddie’s Old Fashioned Soda line in 2019 with Freddie’s Root Beer and has now expanded the product line to include Ginger Ale and Ginger Beer.
If you have been to the Buffalo Trace Distillery and had the pleasure of taking a tour with Hall of Famer Freddie Johnson you know he’s a special human being and provides unique insights into the history of the distillery. With 18 years as a tour guide under his belt and as a third generation employee at this historic distillery his tales go way back. And if you’ve taken ‘any’ tour at the distillery you know that it ends with a tasting that includes Buffalo Trace bourbon and their Bourbon Cream. When the tour guide tosses in some root beer with that bourbon cream you can watch those non-bourbon lovers that got dragged along on a distillery tour begin to turn the corner with phrases like, “Oh, we’ve got to get a bottle of this.”
Similar to Freddie’s Root Beer the label will depict Freddie’s image and well-known catchphrases, such as “Isn’t that neat?” and “Hey daddy-o!” Freddie’s Ginger Ale will be packaged in green glass bottles, while Freddie’s Ginger Beer bottles will be clear glass. Bottles will have an orange bottle cap featuring Freddie’s signature thumbs up, and the bottle carrier will depict scenes of the Distillery and Freddie fishing along the banks of the Kentucky River.
