Derby City Distillery in Louisville, Ky has been shut down as of September 3, 2015 by the Kentucky Alcoholic Beverage Control.
According to WDRB.com the distillery was originally licensed to make moonshine but the company expanded to make other products like vodka, rum and gin. They didn’t try to hide it, a quick visit to their website, Facebook and Twitter accounts show that they were making other spirits for several months. Their Facebook and Twitter were last updated on July 28.

The city says the business doesn’t have an electrical permit or a certificate of occupancy and they are not allowed to operate a business inside the building until the proper permits are obtained. Robert Kirchdorfer, Louisville’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Administrator, issued the following statement: “Local and state ABC officials along with the Louisville Metro Fire Department have dismantled the stills that were in operation at Derby City Spirits due to lack of proper permits and licensing.” WDRB 41 Louisville News
