Michter’s Distillery located on Whiskey Row in Louisville, Kentucky has announced the 2022 release of a fan favorite, their Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye.
Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson have approved this year’s single barrel project. The average proof of the barrels for this March 2022 whiskey is 111.6°.
“Our barrel strength whiskey is always stunning, and this release continues to deliver a bold experience with layers of sweetness and spice along with gentle oak maturity,” said Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson.
“At Michter’s, we’ve put out some terrific Barrel Strength Rye over the years,” added Master Distiller Dan McKee. “Personally, I love this 2022 release for its richness, complexity and depth. It’s a perfect representation of our Michter’s house style.”

“Dan and Andrea are our ultimate gatekeepers,” stated Michter’s President Joseph J. Magliocco. “They’ve continued the tradition set by our late Master Distiller Willie Pratt and our Master Distiller Emerita Pam Heilmann of not releasing something unless they feel the whiskey is just right.”
Michter’s says that with each of its limited production offerings it’s aged to peak maturity. The Michter’s portfolio includes bourbon, rye, sour mash whiskey, and American whiskey.
Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye 2022 whiskey is available now with a suggested retail price in the United States of $100 for a 750ml bottle. Currently all types of Michter’s are being allocated because demand exceeds supply.
Michter’s fans can visit the Michter’s Fort Nelson Distillery in downtown Louisville on Whiskey Row. It also has operations at its Michter’s Shively Distillery and a 205-acre farm in Springfield, Kentucky.
