Being a distiller requires a unique set of skills; chemistry, sales and marketing, creativity, perseverance and if you want to go Bottled in Bond – patience. Derrick Mancini, owner and distiller at Quincy Street Distillery has been patient these four plus years and is happy to announce the first release of North American Steamship Rye™ Straight Single Malt Rye Bottled in Bond whiskey.

Derrick says this is the first-ever, craft-distilled Illinois Bottled-in-Bond whiskey. We are announcing the “first-ever, craft-distilled Illinois Bottled-in-Bond whiskey. North American Steamship Rye™ Straight Single Malt Rye Bottled in Bond whiskey is a landmark in the continued growth and importance of the craft distillation movement in the state. We will release this weekend the newest yet oldest version of our artisanal malt rye whiskey, North American Steamship Rye™.”

The whiskey is handmade at the Quincy Street Distillery in Riverside, Illinois from 100% rye malt that was used for earlier versions of his whiskey, but aged in a full-size, 53 gallon white oak barrels with a No. 3 char for four years and bottled at 100 proof. This is their oldest whiskey released to date, and is currently the oldest whiskey distilled in Illinois.

The suggested retail price for Quincy Street Distillery’s North American Steamship Rye™ Straight Single Malt Rye Bottled in Bond whiskey is $66 for a 750ml bottle of 100 proof/50% ABV whiskey.
