Every city has vacant lots. Waiting for the perfect retailer, the perfect restaurant, the perfect investor at the perfect time can take months or even years. What better way to utilize a city’s unused space than a pop up event. Pop up events can bring an area to life even if only for a short while and it may ignite a spark. That spark may lead to a permanent event or business on a once empty space.
In 2014 the city of Louisville, Kentucky along with leaders from City Collaborative started a pop-up event named, ReSurfaced. The event featured local entertainment, art, food, beer, wine and spirits. “ReSurfaced quickly became a beloved venue and, soon after it closed last year, people began asking when it would reopen,” said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer.
ReSurfaced: The Bourbon Edition and The Kentucky Bourbon Affair™ Collaborative Kick Off
For 2015, ReSurfaced and The Kentucky Distillers’ Association have partnered together to launch ReSurfaced: The Bourbon Edition and The Kentucky Bourbon Affair™ in the same week. “Partnering with the distillers during The Kentucky Bourbon Affair made an ideal pairing, like a fine bourbon and branch water” said Mayor Fischer.
The nation is currently undergoing a bourbon renaissance and what better way to celebrate that renaissance than to pair ReSurfaced with the Kentucky Distillers’ Association annual big event the Kentucky Bourbon Affair.
KDA President Eric Gregory said, “We’re thrilled to help bring ReSurfaced back to life as part of the Kentucky Bourbon Affair, which is all about extraordinary experiences. And what’s more fun than an eclectic Bourbon block party in the heart of downtown on Whiskey Row?”
ReSurfaced: The Bourbon Edition opens June 4 and runs through June 27 at 621 West Main Street. It’s open Thursday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight.
