Vermont’s WhistlePig Whiskey to Open ‘PiggyBank’ Tasting Room and Visitor Experience in Kentucky

WhistlePig Whiskey from The Green Mountain State of Vermont is steaking its claim in The Bluegrass State of Kentucky. WhistlePig Whiskey Distillery in Shoreham, Vermont has announced it is opening The WhistlePig ‘PiggyBank’ in Louisville, Kentucky in the summer of 2025.

WhistlePig says they are going whole hog by opening a disruptive brand outpost 880-miles away from its 500-acre Vermont farm in the heart of bourbon country. The new satellite location will be one block off Whiskey Row, a short three minute walk from Angel’s Envy Distillery, and a few blocks from Old Forester Distillery, Copper and Kings American Brandy Company, and many more of the nearly 20 downtown Louisville distillery experiences.

The new WhistlePig PiggyBank will be located at the former First National Bank. According to the real estate listing from a few years ago, “This historic property, located at 403 E. Market Street, was originally built as a bank in 1912. At the time, it was home to the largest bank vault in Kentucky. The vault remains in the building, as well as many of its other original architectural features. Despite having an array of tenants over the years, the building’s exterior limestone facade, including its four limestone columns and cast-iron fencing, have been historically preserved.”

The Greek-revival limestone building most recently served as home to family-owned Bank Shot Billiards bar, café, and pro shop for nearly a quarter century. The historic 113-year old bank building features 3,934± square feet on the first floor with 24’ tall ceilings and another 4,032± square feet on the lower level.

The WhistlePig PiggyBank is slated to open this summer at 403 E. Market St., Louisville, Kentucky, 40202. And just like pigs in a blanket, we’ll update you with a specific date as the project wraps up.
